Bwindi

Brief  History about  Bwindi National  Park-Uganda

Bwindi National park was gazzeted in 1924 and then upgraded to a park in 1992 from where it came to be recognised as a world heritage site.Bwindi in the local Ugandan language means impenetrable which is the case when it come to this huge forest that acts as a habitat  to half the population of existing  gorillas in the world. A trek through Bwindi forest ranks among the world’s top wildlife safaris and encounters.

Bwindi is normally cold in the morning and during night hours with an annual temp range of 7-20 degrees celsius and two seasons with on e having short rains between March-May and heavy rains between September-November but the good news is that the rain in Bwindi often falls as soft drizzles.

Accommodation in Bwindi National Park-There is a wide range of accommodation set ups in and outside Bwindi national park which are mainly safari logdes and camps at very affordable rates andgood accomodation facilitie.Bwindi Camps include both luxurious and budget camps and these include-Gorilla forest camp, Buhoma homestead, Gorilla Resort, Lake Kitandar Camp among others with most of these accomodation establishments located in Buhoma community (Businnes center)

Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi-Gorilla trekking tours in Bwindi rank among the top tours in Bwindi national park since half the population of the world’s remaining gorillas is located in Bwindi national park. Thousands of tourists and travellers travel to Uganda to trek through the imepenetrable rain forests in South western Uganda in search of the endangered Gorillas.

Other attractions in Bwindi national Park.-Bwindi national park is a very old rain forest(0ver 24000 yrs) an hence supports a huge biodiversity of flora and fauna.with a large list of species including over 50 reptile species,200 trees, and mammals like primates. Bwindi is also a good site for bird watchers and lovers with over 350 bird species located in the dense rain forest.
