Murchison Falls national Park is the largest of all the Uganda national parks in. Murchison falls Park lies at the Northern end of the Albertine rift. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile for 100m as it flows west from the Kaluma falls to the Albert Nile.

The Park is located in the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley. Murchison Falls National Park is found in Masindi District in western Uganda and in Amuru District in northern Uganda. It is located 90km away from Masindi town.
Size; The Park measures approximately 3,840 square kilometers (1,480 sq mi).
Tourist activities and attractions in Murchison Falls National park
Launch cruise
The activity takes place on the Albert Nile. The Paraa
launch trip helps to view the spectacle Murchison falls. While on the launch cruise activity one is able to see a lot of animals such as the Crocodiles, Hippos, Elephants, Lions, Hartebeest, Buffaloes, Giraffes and the Monitor Lizard. The most dramatic view of the water falls is found at the top of the falls where the sight and sound of the waters of the Nile squeeze it’s self through a 5meter gorge. Most people say that at the top of the falls it is always raining throughout he year and this is because of the water which the falls pump from the bottom of he falls to the top and the nearby areas. The activity takes 3 hours
Game drive and game viewing
Murchison falls National Park has the longest game drive among all the National parks of Uganda. During the activity one is able to see animals like the Lions, Elephants, Monkeys, Buffaloes, Hyenas, Giraffes and the Leopards. Rhinos were sadly extinguished but are now being bred again in the rhino sanctuary south of the park; 40 to 50 rhinos are planned to be released into the wild in approx. 30 years (by 2040). Other animals that can be spotted are the Waterbucks, Bushbuck, and Antelopes.
Chimpanzee tracking
This is carried out place in the Kaniyo pabidi forest which is found with in the Budongo forest. The Kaniyo Pabidi forest provides refuges for chimpanzee and other primates like the monkeys such as the vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and the blue monkeys.
Bird watching
This has no specific area where the birds can be watched from but instead it can be done especially with in the Kaniyo pabidi forest. This is
because the park has about 360 species of birds. Other birds can also be seen while on the launch cruise especially the rare shoebill stork, king fishers, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, Black-rumped Buttonquail, Common Squaco Heron and many more.
Nature/forest walk in Murchison Falls NP
This activity is done to the top of the Murchison falls through the Uhuru falls. This is because the launch cruise activity can only give you access o the bottom of he falls. There one needs to climb the Uhuru falls and other possible hills and valleys besides the falls so as to access the top of he falls and to get a chance and experience what people say that it is raining at the top of the falls through out the year. The other nature/forest walk takes place in the Budongo forest and here one has the accessibility to different bird and tree species.
