Uganda is one of Africa’s best bird-watching destinations with an endless list of up to 1060 species of birds recorded over the past few years. The variety of birds can be found on land, water, rain forests, woodland and swamps with at least 13 species categorized as endangered, 4 species are rare and 2 accidental. Popular birds in Uganda include the rare giant shoebill, green breasted pitta, Goliath heron, African Fish Eagle, Yellow billed stork, Great blue Turaco, African Green broadbill, Standard winged night jar, Short tailed Warbler, Black breasted Barbet, Ostriches, Secretary bird, Pigeon, Marabou storks, Crested crane, Bushshrikes, Pied, Malacite & Giant Kingfishers, Weavers, Palm nut Vulture, Egyptian goose, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Silverbird, Red throated bee eater among others
Our birding safari packages allow you explore parks and regions with dense bird populations like Queen Elizabeth park which is home to over 600 species of birds , Murchison falls park (450 species), Uganda Wildlife Education Center UWEC (117 species), Lake Victoria(87 species) , Bwindi forest, lake mburo swamp, Mabira forest, Bigodi swamp among others.
